Paper Dolls for Boys

Raising 2 crafty boys and thrifting every chance I get.

About January 4, 2008

**********************************************************************************

I’m a mom of 2 boys who used to craft more, sleep more, weigh less, and wear cooler shoes.

I like thrift stores, creating stuff from fabric, collecting ephemera, and reading (although I would add that to the ‘less’ column).  My new passion is going to auctions.  I have been to exactly one two.   I picked up a box of vintage valentine cards at my first auction and I’ve surprised myself by getting really into them.

Leave me a comment, if you are so moved, and I’ll get back to you!  Edit to add: I used to be good about getting back to folks but then I got a job and I am lucky if I blog.  Sorry.  I am trying to get into the habit of responding in the comments.

Check my etsy shop at paperdollsforboys.etsy.com, let me know you found me through my site and I’ll add something special to your order!  Edit to add: Oh yeah, that’s on vacation mode due to aforementioned job.

will you do my birthday party? i’m really into lost and chris isaak. can you combine the two?

how do you find the time to do all this blogging and still keep up with your shows?

    keep it comin’ love

  3. paperdollsforboys Says:

J-Bo, Thanks for taking the time to ask! You just have to get your priorities straight. 1. Blogging 2. Television 3. Blog Dashboard Stats checking (this is more fun if you do it compulsively) and then if time permits, 4. Dinner and 5. Laundry 🙂

  4. J-Bo Says:

    um….family?

  5. paperdollsforboys Says:

    Dear J-Bo,
You can’t school me on my own site. I’m sure there are rules for this kind of thing, Google it.
All production on the Lost inside Chris Issak party has hereby ceased. You’re on your own sister.
    Your former friend,
    Me

  6. J-Bo Says:

Simmer down Sister. I know good and well what your priorities are. You could say they’re comparable to mine. Except for the craft thing.

Anyway, the party must continue, n’est ce pas? Maybe it could be turned into a shower for the wee little one in my belly…

    Awaiting your witty response,
    Jax

Anyway, I too have two boys now (almost 3 and almost 1). Freda thought I would enjoy your site. I love it! I can’t wait to try some of your craft ideas….

You sound like a WONDERFUL mother! Congratulations. I look forward to keeping up via your blog.

    Hi Crafty Momma,
I have just spent an hour perusing your site. I’m impressed and also proud…your Grandmother would be soooo proud to see your creativity! You come from a long line of creative foremothers who stitched and sewed and worked with what they had and it is a joy to see that generation continues. Happy crafting!

    Hi Tracey,

Thanks for the comments on my Babette Granny blanket. The gray chair in the background of the photo is from Plummer’s furniture. It’s a chain store…maybe there’s a Plummer’s in your ‘hood! The chair was about $375, on sale!

I recently semi-retired and have been working on my sewing/craft room which is an attic room. I, too, love auctions, yard sales, Good Will, etc…….

Interested in the sink in your small, tree bathroom. Would like to find one this small!!

    Thanks!

Awsome, your blog… so rare. I have raised three boys, the younger is now 21, almost 22, will be a journalist within two years. I just loved the variety of subjects and pics. We all have an auntie Nancy, mine was called Irene… And lots of old pics, borrowed memories. Best of all, I loved the excerpt from Emily Dickenson, “Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul, and sings the song without the words, and never stops at all.” Just as that! I translated it into portuguese (the language I speak mostly): “Esperança é a coisa emplumada, que se empoleira na alma, e canta a canção sem letra, e jamais cessa seu cantar.” Wow! Just felt like a little chat. Cheers, take care – David Pennington
