Paper Dolls for Boys

Raising 2 crafty boys and thrifting every chance I get.

Paper Dolls for All My Friends! May 26, 2008

I’ve been feeling sorry for the people that land here by googling “boy paper dolls” and then they get a story about me calling 911 on my scary computer or my friend and her mean ukulele. So here are a few sites stumbled upon, searched out and/or suggested to me that may be of use to those, like me one day long ago, who google “Paper Dolls for Boys” and hoped to actually find some!

I’m sorry I still have nothing for those who found my site by typing in “The dum bum Elmo game” and I don’t even want to know. I’m also coming up empty for the folks who were looking for the “Jesus walking on water paper doll”. What is the strangest thing people typed to find your site?

—— ——-

My favorites are not the traditional flat paper dolls our grandmothers played with but rather some pretty fierce 3-D dudes with attitude. ReadyMech is a favorite in our house.

The scarier the better.

The same guys behind ReadyMech make some super cool paper pin-hole cameras available for download here.

And speaking of scary. Haunted Paper Toys has some amazing free downloads.

was a big hit and so were .

And here is a site for some 3-D paper animals.

My favorites are the bat and the bunny .

And for inspiration, Tiny Buildings creates some amazing structures using re-purposed business cards.

Something else that we’ve done in the past that has been fun is to cut up photos of people from magazines and then mix and match their features. We usually stick our creations on popsicle sticks and have paper doll puppets. Wish the photos were not stranded on old computer. Will update one day.

Check out the link from Angry Chicken that Lisa from A Spoonful of Sugar left in the comments of another post. Also found through Angry Chicken, The Toymaker but don’t click unless you have a lot of free time on your hands, so very fun.  Check out this Flickr Group for vintage paper doll scans!

If anyone has any more interesting links for paper dolls and/or paper crafts please leave them in the comment section, Thanks!

These blogs both have good papercraft info too:
http://papercraft-world.blogspot.com/ and http://paperforest.blogspot.com/. How exactly do you access search term info for your blog? Is it a WordPress thing or just a smart person thing? (I’m obviously not in either category)

Ohhh, these are great links. There is a paper craft book; The Toymaker, Marilyn Scott-Waters that we have and there are some cute things to make that boys will enjoy.

Love those 3D paperdolls. Oh, how I wish that I had kept my Carmen Miranda and Rita Hayworth paper dolls from my youth.
If I was clever, I find a site of old movie star paper dolls and attach. Alas; I am not. Thanks for those other sites to check out.

I like the bat and the bunny. Another great blog to check for papercraft links is Meggiecat. http://meggiecat.blogspot.com/ I just found your blog and I’m really enjoying it.

I actually just started making personalized paper dolls for boys – I love the traditional paper dolls and now that I have kids just the right age to play with them, there’s been a paper doll revival in my house!

Hi- I am one of thos people who googled “Paper Dolls for
boys”….the reason is that paper dolls is one of the things
that has me rooted right now. Due to the recession the
work that I have done for years with corporate clients has
taken a major nosedive. My health and physical abilities
have also had a big impact on me. Still, I want to stay in a
crafty area and perhaps just increase my input into children’s
products. Paper DOlls is a love that really had me in my childhood and I still see them as a wonderful and affordable
    toy for all kids.
So, I am looking for input of any kind regarding this avenue
as a future. I have to state that I MUST have an income. My
SS has just started (Unfortunately early) and there is no way I
can survive on that money. In fact I am still very stunned to
see I have landed with both feet into poverty zone! Definitely
not part of my American Dream! I have faith that I can come out
of this but I need help (just learning how to ask) and I need
some inspiration – bouncing back to life isn’t always easy.

I am hoping there is someone out there with ideas, thoughts,
and the ability to inspire. I am open to partnering or some
arrangement where skills are shared along with revenue and
    glory.

    Can you help me?
